Dr. Garber is a Phoenix native and was raised in the north valley. He graduated from Moon Valley High School while playing football and baseball. Received a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with emphasis on physiology, biomechanics and athletic training from Northern Arizona University. He then went on to receive his doctorate in podiatric medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Garber completed a 3 year surgical podiatric residency at Eastern Colorado Health Care System based in Denver, Colorado.

During that time he received advanced training in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery including elective surgery, diabetic limb salvage, trauma, reconstructive surgery with external and internal fixation, arthroscopy, ankle fusions as well as ankle implants. Dr. Garber is board qualified in foot surgery and is an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Dr. Garber specializes in diagnosing and treating pain/ injuries associated with sports and fitness activities such as running, fitness walking, dance, gymnastics, soccer, and aerobics, to name a few. A primary focus of sports medicine is the rapid recovery of patients, since many are involved in competition. This drives many innovations in the field. The function of sports Podiatry is not only curative and rehabilitative, but preventive as well. As an athlete, he is sensitive to the injuries and stresses that the feet endure and the importance of having healthy feet in order to enjoy life to the fullest.

Dr. James Garber is proud to serve and provide the best possible care to his home town, friends and family. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, playing competative softball, playing golf or just spending the day out on the lake.
